Yes, like any incentive plan you have to watch and see whether it's changed your purchasing practices and whether it's really saving you money in the long run. It basicallly didn't for us, because we already did most of our shopping at that store. And we still buy things at other stores when the price is cheaper.
Also, I can't use the jerry cans because Kroger limits the fill to 35 gallons. That works out pretty much perfect for me. I have a "34 gallon" tank--but if I run pretty much all the way to empty I can fit 35 gallons in. That's why pretty much all my fuel log entries are exactly 35 gal.
