baldlobo -- Ah well—I was going to change that to 1/8" and didn't. If I had we would pretty much agree.
On the Beetle's
bona fides: Any VIN number would have been in the front spare tire well, or on the floorpan. Those are both gone. It has a combination of the big back window with European turn signals (the empty semaphore turn signal pockets).
In case you didn't know it was purchased as a donor car to build the model in my profile picture. Which was painted first. Compare the purple tops, it seemed like it was meant to be, ten years ago. Now I'm starting to wonder.
