This is the
sticky wicket on this forum.....ABA testing and issues of allowing the ECU time to adjust. LaPointe mentions this....where he recommends to NOT reset the ECU. My cone filter results verified some kind of ECU adjustment as monitored by a SG over 2 tanks.
Some mods such as tire pressure will show instant results....others involving fuel management and the ECU take time to evolve.
The time to test this is in summer after temps stabilize?
In the interest of full disclosure...etc...I need to CORRECT the above info:
* I did see real mpg gains over 2 tank refills vs previous tank refills...before temps started to trend down.
* The ScanGauge Fuel used reading also needed to be reset lower over these 2 tanks...confirming the tank refill mpg gain.
* The ECU was probably not involved directly...that I know of...in this mpg gain.

With what I've read about ECUs is that they don't change quickly, they can take anywhere from 5-10 trips before behavior is changed, if ever without disconnecting the battery and erasing it.
