I am coming up to 4yrs with my I30. I'm from down under, Australia, and did a full year traveling 150km each way to and from work. The best I could achieve was 3.7L/100km but was reguarly scoring 3.9, which is well under the publicised 4.6l/100km. But four yrs on and the efficiency has declined to low 4's. Still less than half what the Subaru Forester ever delivered (8.3l/100km vs the publicised 9.7). I believe the I30 hypermiling was at the time better than the hybrids!
