I really like the 1st gen 5 speed insights, but, the only problem with them is they are incapable of running in EV only mode. I wonder what sort of wizardry would be necessary to change this by installing a clutch between the motor and the ICE. I wonder if it would be possibly to just move the clutch to this position. I am assuming of course that it currently resides between the motor and the tranny.
