After seeing a bunch of my buddies trucks, and driving a number of them, I've always preferred the V8. I've personally seen and used the torque of the 300, and they are certainly capable motors. But when just driving lightly, without flooring it the V8's have always given better fuel economy, and that is with 2 trucks with the 5.0 truck motor, and one that had the I6 and was swapped with a 5.0 HO.

Also when towing a car trailer with a 3900 lb car on it, the V8 seemed to do ot a whole lot easier, although fuel economy was worse with the v8 while towing. In my experiences, I prefer the V8, but I could see why people like the 6.
