Nature has much stricter manufacturing criteria i.e. inappropriate design = extinction.

I think some of the discussion regarding the design of tyres & rims highlighted some of the problems, if the rim/tyre boundary causes seperation, then the dimpled wheel doesn't come into play at all, but if flow remains attached, then the benefits are revealed.
