If you're looking at the speedo and the tach, the wheels and tires don't come into account. They can change your actual speed, but since the speedometer really just reads off the output shaft of the transmission the wheels are a non-issue.

Yup, I totally missed that fact. Your actual speed and the distance your ODO says you travelled would be incorrect, but your speedometer wouldn't know that, it would still show the "correct" speed. Good catch!
