The ideal use of a hybrid (to me) is use electric to get the vehicle moving then use the ICE to maintain the speed at peak torque.

Other use of the electric would be combining electric power and the gasoline engine to maintain speed up a grade then using regen and DFCO (in highest gear) down the other side of the hill.

One question I would have is.... is 500lbs the capacity the hub motor can propel or is 500lbs all the weight the axle and/or bearings of the hub motor can carry?
