I looked at the bonneville racers Mickey Thompson ran back in 69 and he had a flush grille on them , maybe also the SAAB style rear whell undercar air deflectors, that flush hubcaps and the right rear spoiler, also look into the redline brand of gear oils for your diff a good 1/2 mpg there. running the shockproof light in the ranger now and love the stuff.with the grille you could try diferent styles of nylon screen or similar, and good luck , keep us posted, a bigger front spoiler was the biggest cooling help on my 66 GT, also high speed handling.
