Maybe this site has re-inspired me. Bought the Jetta new in 06 and used to focus on economy quite a bit...not so much the last few years. Lifetime tank mpg for 146k miles is 43.579, but just had a sub-40 tank a few fill-ups ago
Best tank was a hair over 50 IIRC. 48 on the way to work today and 47 coming home. Just moved from (thought it was flat) coastal South Carolina for a job in (oh my God it's flat) southern Louisiana, but surprisingly the ol' Jetta can coast quite a ways here! Maybe it's time to finally block off some of those grille openings and a few other improvements. Anyway, doubt I'll have much to add but it's been interesting reading so far.
