Okay, before I even got to the timing belt, I realized that the crank pulley was on wrong! No wonder the timing mark didn't line up. I checked the belt anyway and found it to be correct. I put it all back together and timed the ignition. It was at 0*. The hood sticker said 5* and other forum member say 8* is best. So, it is set at 8*. If it is too much timing, I can always pull it back.

I have driven it twice since the adjustment and it does run better. I should say, it accelerates a lot better (But I really drive for MPG, so there isn't a lot of excessive acclerating anyway). Hopefully this will get me above the 40 mpg mark...now that it is running correctly.
