My dad once had a big SUV tailgate him. He started speeding up, continued speeding up, and once his speeding satisfied the highway patrol, they turned on the pretty lights.

They tried that with me once. I didn't bite. Good weather, open 2-lane road. The *instant* the lights came on I put it on the side of the road. It was a very light car (Type III Notchback w/ 1776 and a 5-speed). When he walked up and asked if I knew he was behind me, I noticed his chin was quivering, as a cloud of rubber smoke rolled past.
When he asked how fast I was going, I told him I never look at my speedometer when a police car is behind me, matter of policy. (speedo reads off an undersized front tire; we go with what he says) We had a nice chat and he let me off with a warning.
To be fair and balanced, I did stumble into a radar trap after dark the same day.
