Afton mountain between Charlottesville and Waynesboro, probably 3000 foot drop in 5-6 miles maybe more. The grade was so steep there before they built I64 I had to downshift my 63 Valiant to 2nd gear because it did not have enough power to go 45 in high gear with a 101 HP slant 6. That was 1967.
In my VX coming back from Blacksburg I was drafting a big rig at 85 MPH and actually had to put it in 5th gear, then 4th gear to keep from being sucked into the trailer, at 85 MPH. That coast was 3 miles +.
