Nice Mudder!! You make me miss my old mud and creek riding days...
Just wanted to throw a few ideas your way, I owned a Toyota Truck mud machine for about 10 years, it was bulletproof up to your chin in water..litterly...lol.
1. The #1 mod to get you through the mud hole is lockers in both axles...tires are important too, but lockers rule! (Are those Super Swamper Vampires??)
2.Silicone the distributer, tube off the vent (if it has one)...shove tons of dielectric grease into both ends of the spark plug wires to keep the water out. If the tires or fan belts are throwing mud directly onto the distributer or coil packs, make a cheap shield or those clumps can knock your wires loose.
3. Trade off the regular battery for a sealed unit...the muddy water will soon kill your battery with contamination..
4. I'd go with a snorkel directly off the carb/throttle body...that stock air filter system has way too many seams to be water proof. Elbow it up, put a 4" air filter unit on the end of the breather pipe up in the air.. you'll gain a few ponies to get you through the mud too..
5. All computer stuff should be in the cab, mine used to be on a shelf above my head with my stereo and C.B. radio! lol..
6. Lastly, don't forget to tube off the axles, the transfer case, and tranny.
I used to change oil by sight, not by miles. Any water contamination needs to dealt with asap, not by mileage..Enjoy the ride, I wish I had mine back! (btw...my old truck had 39.5" Swampers, 5.29 gears and Detroit lockers front and rear, a 5 gallon reservoir with high flow fuel pump for windshield wash AND radiator rinsing, a rear bumper with storage made for holding the muddy tow strap, plastic racing seats and no carpet to hold down on the moisture funk inside ect ect ect....)
