I'm a mechanic & partner in a repair garage.
I run a Passat PD130 I bought new in 2001 which now has 240,000m on the clock;
reckon it's averaged 47 to 50 mpg (UK) in that time.
I've also got a 97 Skoda Felicia 1.9D; this does 45 to 50 on runs mostly of 2.5 to 11 miles.
