I don't know about a off the shelf product ... but topographical GPS units are not just in smart phones ... many GPS units have a built in topographical map data base they can lay over your current position ... speed and direction of travel are also common in many GPS devices ... once you know the direction of travel on a topographical map than the contour lines would tell you the slope in that direction.
Although I have no doubt it would be easier to program than other GPS types of programming ( like route planning ) ... I do not know of an off the shelf product off hand that just gives this output... sorry ... just an idea.
