The expensive material in lithium batteries is the copper and aluminum and the expensive part of making them is the quality control in a 0 humidity environment where you are taking very thin sheets of the metal and printing on the lithium and other active parts of the battery, a lithium battery has about as much lithium as a book has ink, only the layers in a lithium battery are thinner then the pages of a book.
