Heh. I used to P&G on our high school cross country course. Racing doesn't reward you for time, just position. A large part of our course was through the woods- sometimes through clearings and sometimes on narrow trails.
I'd dog it on the trails and put on speed right before the clearings. Just a couple steps of lead and I could hold it no problem until I hit the next narrow trail section, where I'd relax and they'd come zipping up to get stuck in the no passing zone. The other runners were hilarious, because they didn't understand that there's a difference between running and racing.
