Found some new information, something called Kydex.

What I wanted to share here, is info on a plastic sheet called Kydex. Kydex is a propriatary product, but there may be some generics. The material is lighter than ABS, yet stiffer. It is used for truck bed liners, amoung other things. I made a splitter out of it a about 12 years ago and it held up extemely well. I got it at a wholesale plastics supply and I bought a remnant for a few dollars. It can be thermoformed with a heat gun.
You know I'll have some under my car sometime next year when I get done with all the nonsense I'm doing now. I'm not even going to install the stock gravel pan under the steering box. But, unlike Thom, I think I'll stop at the front of the floor pan. We'll see about any work aft of the floor pan. That could be fun.
