Possible alt to duct taping it on is rare earth magnets, they have a short grab distance so thinner the distance from magnet to the metal the better. My orignal design (in my head) was 5 magnets at the top of the car roof, and a few on the trunk lid, and have the whole assembly pull off, but a hinge would make life so much easier!
