I got a new diesel (don't worry, the truck's not going anywhere).
I was visiting my brother last weekend and he had bought this old traffic sign that had a little diesel genset on it. The engine wouldn't bar over, so he gave it to me. Gotta love free!
It's a single-cylinder 5.9 hp Deutz Ruggerini MD 75 (327 cc):
We tore into it and found some water had run into the cylinder and rusted it up. I cleaned up the rust and got it to turn over free now. In the process, my brother broke the oil ring and I need to get a replacement. Other than that I thing it's good to go. I hope to get it all back together soon.
I'm seriously considering making it into a diesel motorcycle. I've been thinking about it for a while:

5.9hp isn't quite as big as I'd like, but with some work I think it may work for a commuter motorcycle. I have a friend at work that's starting to build one with a 10hp diesel.
We'll see...
