My Civic has the same gap. Yea good thinking with the triming. I will have to make something to fix that gap. This may sound dumb but what about making a cut in the rear bumper to help funnel the air out. Like speed holes, or devise some kind of foam filled cover piece. Not sure if anyone has tried either.
