I'm back to work on my CarBEN EV5 project, and I've laid my first piece of fiberglass, on a trial piece left over from cutting out the battery bays. I used the 8.9oz e-glass (8 loom fabric) because it is a 50" width, so I have more of it.

I have 6 different fiberglass fabrics to test:
3oz e-glass
8.9oz e-glass
10oz e-glass
4oz s2-glass
6oz s2-glass
8.9oz s2-glass

The foam pieces are ~6" x ~10.5" x ~1" thick, and some have one corner that has a larger radius. I'm going to glue fabric to both large faces, to familiarize myself as to how they work with a certain amount of glue (Titebond III) and to test them for relative strength.

The e-glass is less expensive, and the s2-glass is about 25-30% stronger all else being equal.
