I timed my commute to work, and I know the distance thanks to google maps, and got an average speed of 56.7 MPH. My commute it pretty repeatable and based on past experience of how long it takes it yields an average speed between 54 – 59 MPH. This trip is responsible for about 85% of the mileage my car travels. The other trip I make often accounts for the other 10% has an average speed of 46 MPH. The other 5% varies widely.
