topper issue

I am sure it has been fore warned here b4 about overfilling tank.
You can get away with it most times on cars but eventually it will cause failure of the fuel sending unit. I changed out bunches in early 2000s and the fault cannot be issued directly to topping off over recomended unless driver admits to it. I recently had my own adjustment. the fuel prices in Georgia are generally 15 cents higher than Mississippi so I loaded up till overflow before long trip. Now when gage hits empty there is no longer 27 miles its out.
found this out Monday and just rolled into the pump off freeway. I thanked God for a lapse in cross traffic when I needed it too. 3seconds sooner or later at interchange and I woulda been pushing it to the pump and thats not my way to hypermile!
