Background
I studied electrical engineering and networking, I am currently working as a GIS specialist for a major cable telco in Quebec. Did fiber optic network design, cable layout plans and civil works drawings. I can explain in details signal paths from the "internet" to your house, and from cell towers to landline phones or why they can't just give you "more internets" overnight (which I usually have to do to older relatives every christmas...)
I used to be a sound tech on the side, but it killed my first van... As it turns out, doing 1000km in a weekend with arounds 1200 lbs of speakers and cables is a good way to ensure the speedy death of a used van with unknown origins and already past 210 000 km. So many things failed on that van that getting a brand new one saved me a lot of money.
Now I got a brand new one and the fuel economy is very good, it motivates me to be careful and try to get the best mileage as possible!
