You could probably stop at Autozone and have them kill the code. I removed my instrument cluster once, my speedometer needed lubricating (żĄ!?). Then I had a well-lubricated but disconnected speedometer.
I guess that was less useful.
Pulling the fuse also sounds easy, but I would advocate actually fixing the problem when you can.
