We (GMHE, Hughes Aircraft Company) worked on the
SolarRaycer and previewed the
EV-1 before it was announced (I
almost leased one).
Aerodynamics is critically important at double- (and triple-) -digit Mach numbers (rockets, missiles, etc.), where dynamic forces will "fold" a body in half if not approached properly.
