What do you mean the motor "blew"? That tells me a rod went flying through the cylinder wall, a bad rod bearing, etc. Lost compression is usually what happens to old motors as the piston rings and cylinder walls deteriorate. If your motor was suffering from compression problems you will notice a nice improvement.
I only had 40 PSI compression in one of my cylinders before replacing the motor with a refurbished unit. I went from 32 MPG to 38 MPG after the new motor.
