Hi All,

There is a non-corrosive silicone sealer. We use it for antenna work all the time. Its blue, and a little more expensive, and readily available. I have opened up silver plated connectors under this stuff 10 years after I sealed them, and found the coupling nuts still bright silver.

Standard RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) silicone is corrosive because the anti-polymerization agent is acetic acid (think orange juice,without the orange). As the RTV cures, the acedic acid is evaporating out of the blob.

This stuff is in a silver blue tube, usually, and in the gasket sealer area of most automotive, or hardware stores. It has a carboxyl smell to it. Here is a linke:
