The CVCC engines would probably be a no go with fuel injection, since they had the dual circuit carbs that ran rich in the prechamber area and lean in the main combustion chamber.
I had a 84 1.5, bought it brand new and averaged 45 MPG without even really trying in the age of 55 MPH national speed limits.
If I ever got another one it would be a pristine 90-91 HF, which had port FI if memory still serves me well.
