Excuse if I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure what you are talking about here
is coroplast. Polycarbonate(aka Lexan) is what eyeglass lenses and some motorcycle helmet faceshields are made of. I believe if you search some of the build posts that many folks on here have used coroplast for belly pans and they talk about how to deal with the hot spots under the car.
