I've had alum window screen on 2 4x4 vehicles mostly to keep grass seeds/bugs off the radiator. The radiators were entirely covered....stuff tended to wash off in the rain...kept the radiators clean.
One got 35 mpg highway...the other... a truck... gets 25 mpg highway. Summer. No issues with offroad trailing causing overheat. Did not notice an mpg gain.
