The CBR250R will still be the best highway capable hypermiling motorcycle to buy. But tall and heavy riders that struggle to get 75 mph and 60 mpgUS into headwinds on the 250 will be happier with the roomier, more powerful, and smoother CBR500R and still get the same 60 mpgUS.
.
When the NC700X first came out, some hammer head in South Africa wrote one of the first reviews where he managed to flog it to 45 mpgUS. No real world group rider gets less than 60 on that bike and cautious commuters get mid 70's. It is possible to get a Prius below 30 mpg. There is always someone that can get a terrible number if they want. I wonder if I could break 90 mpgUS on the CBR500R? I would love to rent one for a week.
