If I were too advance my timing, I would definitely tune the bike to run on the rich side.
That being said, what helps power might not show up in the RPM range we usually use for FE riding.

assuming the same jetting, the hotter it is the richer the bike runs. i would always jet leaner in the summer, richer in the winter
i've thought reduced cooling at higher temps was more about temperature differential than air density, either way though... hotter conditions = less cooling
power torque work... yea, i should have been more specific
i thought the timing advance helped most at low rpm and tapered off alot at high rpm, however, i've wondered if this might be exaggerated in a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke
