You need to supply the cable, 4 or 5 core (2M) an old black usb 4 core cable is a good option for this.
You need a pic programmer to keep upto date with software development as per OBDIIC&C.

You need a fine 1mm tip soldering iron, you won't be able to do it with grandad's old farm tools.
