BINGO!!!

New diesels are being choked down just like V8s in the 70s. The fuel sipping supremacy of diesels is long gone given the new emissions garbage they are adding to these engines.

Usually the cost of the diesel option is quite expensive, not to mention the expensive maintenance parts when it needs service. Consider cost of diesel engine vs gas, then of diesel fuel vs gas, and when you see that the diesel option in only getting 8 more mpg you see that its going to take a LONG time for your investment to pay for itself...

Now if there are tuners out there and kits to remove emissions stuff...I'm betting that modern diesels could be good for high 50mpg in small cars...but that is all speculation, I'm not completely familiar with new diesels and their potential...
