I think that outside of the applications listed above you are in a very gray area.
For instance most of the locations you show would do little to help and may even harm the aerodynamics.
The top of the windshield location has been discussed in a another thread. I am doubtful to it's usefulness here.
The patent drawing looks to be a similar profile to a teadrop Kamm, but I suspect that was a precaution to insure it worked at all prior to testing.
