First Post
First posting was to be yesterday. I got home a bit late and could not get the posting done ...
The first picture shows 3 stacks of aluminum and a box of aluminum pieces.
The 4 lengths of 2 inch aluminum tube 60 inches long are the main or longitudinal beams for the car. Those are at the top of the first photo.
Below that in the middle is a smaller stack of 2 inch tube. There are 4 lengths of 20 inches each for the horizontal ladder pieces on the top and bottom of the car frame. That's the bottom of that stack.
On the top of that stack are 6 lengths of 6 inches each for the vertical ladder pieces on the sides of the car frame.
The box of 1.75 inch pieces on the left are a nice tight inside fit for the 2 inch tube (2 x 2 outside measurements with 0.125 wall makes an inside size of 1.75 inches). The long tubes will each have one of the 1 inch and one of the 0.75 inch width pieces, for a 1.75 x 1.75 'plug', at each location where the shorter tubes are joined to the long tubes. The 'plug' is bolted to the long tube, then the shorter tubes are slid onto the 'plug' and bolted to the plug. Plug-to-long tube, short tube-to-plug.
During the assembly process, I will be showing pictures and linking to youtube video.
A lot of drilling, 60 bolts, 60 nuts, and 120 washers later, the frame will be assembled square and plumb. At least, that's the plan. The Gopro (camera) will capture time lapse photos, my android phone will be used for some video and close-up pictures of measurements.
The right of the picture shows a stack of 0.75 inch aluminum tube that is cut to length to make the Motor Module for the scale car.
The second photo shows the 0.75 inch aluminum tube at the bottom, from one end
The third photo shows the box of short pieces and the longer tubes
