Yea he should be able to tell quickly if it's the cat. Remember it's a wideband o2 upstream so the voltage is going to be different than the .2-.8. If you couldn't tell I'm a tech as well and have a small 2 bay shop.
I hear ya. I'm in the same boat as you. I work in the Bethlehem area but I live in Scranton. I have the same mods planned for my sedan but it's just a pain to find the time to do them. I'm going to make a custom winter/summer front bumper. It will be fully closed in the winter and have a removeable panel by the rad for the summer.

Hmm, that does sound like a great combo. Do you have any other FE mods or just that trans swap that got you into the 50's?!
I have a post up seeing if anyone else has a personal experience of doing an HX to VX trans swap and what the FE increase was with just the swap. If it's beneficial enough and can get me into the mid to upper 40's, or low 50's at the very least, I'm going to do it.
For reference purposes:
96 CX manual is 2222 lbs
97 CX manual is 2304 lbs
98 CX manual is 2295 lbs
99 CX manual is 2395 lbs
00 CX manual is 2395 lbs
So not too far off from the HX models.
Could definitely tell you're either a tech or well versed in automotive information. Either way, it's good to see someone with a lot of first hand knowledge out there.
Ouch, that's a long commute! I do 63 miles round trip (Springfield Township, MontCo. to West Chester, ChestCo). 90% highway and during off peak hours which eliminates traffic barring an MVA. That block you're talking about is exactly what I am planning as well. I'm excited to get something done, but as you said, free time is a PITA to find!
