I don't know. I'm a clumsy clown unable to remove the trim around my hybrid battery to remove the plate covering the terminals. There is a manual breaker switch, I tripped it and then the IMA is dead all right. There should also be a relay doing that when the key is off. But I have not seen it yet. Maybe this weekend, if the weather stays fine and the kids behave.
(my aim is to build a cheap portable booster pack for my Insight; I got the theory worked out, but am scared of actually getting it done)

But I'm 100% sure that I think I've read some posts about the need to leave the contact on when grid charging. The experts are all on insightcentral.com, worth a visit imho. They even ponder about the Civic, which strictly speaking is not an Insight at all...
