97 Ford Ranger

From what I read, I can get around 20 mpg with the 4x4 ranger 4.0L auto.
Haven't started using it yet to drive to work. Plan to check MPG for a few weeks, then make changes and see if anything makes a solid improvement.
Anyone have any luck squeezing a few more miles per gallon out of one of these rigs?
I'm thinking electric fan and a tonneau cover might help? Maybe a lower front bumper and grill block too?
