I made the switch to Linux Mint 16 on my 8 year old barebone PC, and after some minor issues it works like a charm.
I can still boot XP, but it feels like punishment.

Linux Mint 16 is only good til July, i booted up Mint 13 on mine for support until 2017
I feel the punishment i dual booted Mint with win7 on my laptop. If I have my charger i use linux it only gives 1 hour battery life.
