That's why van-based ambulances are nowadays prevalent, due to their higher internal volume improving the working conditions for the medical crew. Even in the narrower Euro models.

Well, if we remember that in Europe many vans are available in FWD configuration, the lower cargo platform height is also more favorable to the operational conditions of an ambulance...
