I've seen that a lot with ex-wives, girlfriends, and friends in general: I'd like to collect other people's opinions about something I was thinking of doing, and often, go ahead and do it regardless of what they'd say. And I heard more than once, "So why do you bother to ask me if you're gonna go ahead and ignore me & do it anyway?"
So I guess the "lesson" is; if you ask someone their opinion and then don't follow it, you run the risk insulting them. Of course that still doesn't stop me! LOL!!!
