Friday night I had left the grocery store and was on my way to the gas station (record tank, BTW) when I passed a bicycle that had a 1 gallon gas can strapped over the rear tire. 'Tis the season for firing up the riding mower to haul crap around the yard, so I didn't think much of it.
When I was pumping gas, the cyclist coasted up, propped it on the other side of the pump and went into the store. It still made sense as a small gas run, but something about the bike hadn't looked quite right. Then a couple came outside and made right for it- they had apparently been startled by him asking for "$3.53 on pump five" and got from him that he had put a motor on it.
I couldn't hang around, but he said he had thought about it for a while, then got the parts and slapped it together in an afternoon.
Nice ride.
