The race around Watkins Glen track was a hoot! After the green flag "GO!" The little centurion was easily up to speed by turn one but not knowing the track Team Centurion entered it at roughly 35 mph.

Then, one easy sweep around what was labeled as the turn to watch, and the rest went like clockwork! After that turn there is an uphill but it was fairly easy to get speed up coming out of turn 1, so much so that there was no need to downshift. The tach never went below about 1800 rpm and I had to keep letting up on all but the uphill. About 2350 rpm was the sweet spot - weight of the big toe on the pedal.

That 1st lap can be viewed here:

Pressing my luck a little speed was increased at every pass through the dreaded turn one. While somewhat pinned in the chaise chair cushions, several passes were at over 50 mph! Did I mention this death-trap corners like a slot-car?!

Along the way Team Centurion saw some familiar faces. The first was BrucePick!

BrucePick averaged an excellent 53mpg!
