F1 regulations for 2014 were laid down sometimes in 2010 or so. Anyway, the point is that this technology can actually have a future in road cars. Mercedes Benz are working on it also, so it is good to see that is already in process.

Returning to the original thread and combining it with F1, I heard that those cars use Vortex Generators, but not in the normal fashion. They use them to direct air away from the wheels and try to seal the gap, as some sort of side skirts and in many other areas, but I'm with the general consensus here, as I don't think those things would work in an everyday car at slow speeds (in comparison) or with the airflow found on most cases.
