I make a point to WARN everyone who posts about neutral coasing in an auto. In many cases the transmission damage can exceed the value of the vehicle.

It would be a disaster for someone, trying to get above living day to day, to loose a vehicle trying to save a small amount of fuel.

DO NOT COAST WITH THE ENGINE OFF IN AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EQUIPPED VEHICLE. THE DAMAGE TO YOUR TRANSMISSION CAN BE CATASTROPHIC AND REQUIRE A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT.

I know some may not understand that, but they MUST understand this. Auto transmissions require pressure lubrication. Spinning parts in your transmission (Auto) without the engine running is the same as running your engine without oil in the oil pan.
Coasting is turning the prop shaft (or half shafts) and that turns a significant portion of the internal parts which require pressurized lubrication.
